PAULA SILVA, THE SPANISH WOMAN WITH THE MOST TITLES DESPITE HER YOUNG AGE

With an impressive resume and despite her young age PAULA SILVA “PRETTY KILLER” yesterday won again the WBC national champion title.

Paula competes at the highest level thanks to the centre where she trains at Boonchuay Gym. Today we have the pleasure of interviewing her 24 hours after her great victory and we will talk about her career in MUAY THAI, described as one of the most dangerous disciplines in the world, but that every day gets more visibility.

How did you get started in this world?

When I was 6 years old, my cousin (trainer) started a gym, which told me to try a class and see if I liked it. So thanks to that trial class I got to know what my sport was and I still do today.

What is a normal day in your life like?

When I have competition, the training is much harder so I train in the morning and in the evening, I study in the morning, from 5:30 to 6:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays I teach Muay Thai to my kids, and continuously from 7 to 8:30.

Is it difficult to make a living from Muay Thai exclusively compared to other sports?

Yes, it is not well recognized as it deserves, for all the effort, sacrifice and perseverance that is behind each daily training.

As it is such a demanding sport, can anyone take up the sport or does it require a previous physical base?

I think that we all have to start with something, the first day I started I didn’t have any physical base, it’s all about putting yourself into it, being constant and if you want something it costs you something!

I encourage everyone to try it, leaving behind the shame, what people will say or I can’t…

Do you see yourself competing in the Olympics?

Yes, totally, and I would love to, because my sport is not well known or known at all, and that would encourage people to try it and be intrigued by this sport.

Give us a brief account of how you experienced this last fight.

My last fight for me was high and low, as soon as I got out of the ring I was not satisfied with the work done, as my opponent did not let me work as I expected, even so we won the 5 rounds, round after round, performing very good technique of High Kick s to the face and good left crochet punch.
